President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva attend opening of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Paris

Opening ceremony of the Cultural Center created with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijani Embassy in France was held in Paris, 19 September.

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

President Ilham Aliyev hoisted the state flag in the yard of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center.

The Head of the Azerbaijani State and the First Lady have acquainted with the Center.

The Center, located near the Eiffel Tower, is of great importance for the propaganda of the country’s culture in the center of the world culture. A greater part of the actions President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva implements to promote the country abroad is connected with the cultural life of Paris. The new center will strengthen the works carried out in this direction, help coordinate them from the united centre and build more fruitful activity.

The Center with three thousands square meters area is a historical building to function as a kind of the cultural centre of Azerbaijan in Paris and contribute to the organization of numerous humanitarian actions connected with the country.

The Center has been provided with every condition to host various events. The major specificity of the Center is that samples of the Azerbaijani culture are exhibited here. The Center, which has different exposition halls, is rich with archeological findings, samples of ancient numismatics, guns, numerous coppersmith creations reflecting the Azerbaijani history.

The Center exhibits samples of all directions of Azerbaijani carpets created hundreds of years ago, the history and development of carpet weaving schools in Azerbaijan, the miniature art of Azerbaijan as a remarkable part of the Eastern art, gives full information about all courses of the folk art, the national costumes, bronze sculpture, adornment and jewelry, woodcarving and dolls created in the national spirit.

A rich library with the samples of Azerbaijani literature translated into French will be interesting for readership. Large fund of literature on the varied branches of the national culture provides information about the Azerbaijani art, including literature, painting and music.

The Cultural Center presents works by young artists. The creation of the Center is of huge importance to present the samples of the modern art, which is developing in the country, to the French audience.

President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva were told the Center attaches great attention to the promotion of the Azerbaijani music. The Center houses a separate mugham hall, exhibits the ancient national musical instruments of Azerbaijan. Also, cooking the samples of the Azerbaijani cuisine will be taught at the Center. 

President Ilham Aliyev viewed Paris from the upper floor of the Center.

The President of Azerbaijan signed the Guest Book of the Cultural Center.
