Azerbaijani Language and Literature Forum gets underway in Shamakhy

Azerbaijani Language and Literature Forum is being held in Azerbaijan.

 

Organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, supported by the Ministry of Science and Education, the National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan, the Forum is realized within the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli talked about the significance of the Forum. The minister told that organization of the Forum was a constituent part of the series of projects being implemented by the Ministry of Culture. Underscoring the special importance of the Forum dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader, the minister said: “National Leader Heydar Aliyev has always paid special attention to the development and purity of our mother tongue – the Azerbaijani language. Today, this policy continues to be successfully pursued by President Ilham Aliyev. Basic expectations from the Forum are to reveal problems, discuss them and include into the state strategy for the future”.  

 

Minister of science and education Emin Amirullayev said that development and perfection of the Azerbaijani language is among the principal issues to be solved. Underscoring that native speakers of the Azerbaijani language residing outside Azerbaijan have problems with education, the minister said: “As of this education year, online lessons to teach the Azerbaijani language will be organized for our fellow countrymen residing in foreign countries. We have received over 400 applications. I think this is important for Azerbaijanis residing outside Azerbaijan”.


A video film dedicated to the Azerbaijani language was shown after the opening speeches.

 

The Forum continued by a panel meeting on the theme “Impact of the globalization to the Azerbaijani language and mechanisms to preserve the purity of our mother tongue”.

 

Joined by well-known linguists and literary critics, the Forum will continue in Baku on September 3 and 4. Extensive discussions will be held on the role of the Azerbaijani language in immortalizing our culture, its advancement and promotion, preservation of the purity of the mother tongue, contemporary literary processes, ideological significance of the child literature in our country, and its contemporary problems, current status of the national book industry, the state support to this field, promotion of reading among children and the youth, the literary factor in the development of theatre and cinema etc. at the Forum, with participation of the literary and scientific society.

 

Thoughts and proposals of specialists expressed within the Forum will be summarized and included in the State Programme “Azerbaijani Culture-2040”.
