The book Gabusnameh

In 2009, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation printed the book Gabusnameh - famous in a number of Eastern countries - in the Russian language. And in 2014, on the occasion of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s 10-year anniversary, the book was re-printed in Azerbaijani and Russian.

Gabusnameh is an ethical and didactic work embracing significant matters concerning education and ethics.  This work was written in the years 1082-1083 appealing to Gilanshah, the son of Unsurulmaali Keykavus, the Padishah of the Gilan State located in the south of Azerbaijan - the north of today’s Iran.

Written in the genre of moral admonition, the work consists of lively and funnily written stories and aphorisms of the author, along with being simple in style.

The Gabusnameh had been a reference book of rulers, religious persons, scholars and teachers in the medieval times. This work has, for centuries, played a significant part in young generations’ education.
