A Legend of Love Ballet
The ballet “A Legend of Love” - one of the world’s classic musical masterpieces - by eminent composer, People’s Artist Arif Melikov was solemnly re-staged, in over a half century, in the author’s homeland, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The premiere took place at the Heydar Aliyev Palace on September 18 and 19, 2023.
Arif Melikov composed the music of the pallet “A legend of Love” to the libretto written by famous Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet on the basis of the drama “Farhad and Shirin”.
Along with artists of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble, soloists invited from foreign theatres too took roles in the Legend of Love, staged after long years in the composer’s homeland.
Over 200 costumes, as well as decorations and requisites were prepared for this historic presentation by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, based on the original sketches of artist Simon Virsaladze.
